About the role
Ausgrid is looking for a skilled Civil / Structural Engineer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis and play a vital role in delivering high quality civil, pavement, drainage and structural designs to support our Battery Energy Storage System projects and broader infrastructure initiatives.
You will work closely with our PLUS ES Business unit and Business Development team on some of the most exciting renewable connection and storage opportunities, understanding customers' needs and reviewing and coordinating projects as well as project managing the civil and structural engineering designs providing an end-to-end solution from initial feasibility and value engineering through to detailed design.

Location for this role is in Sydney, Haymarket and hybrid working options are available,
Your key responsibilities will be (but not limited to):
- Develop civil, pavement, drainage and structural designs for Battery Energy Storage Systems and Electrical Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, projects and other infrastructure projects.
- Lead drafting efforts using AutoCAD /Civil 3D (or similar) and collaborating with electrical engineers to ensure integrated design outcomes.
- Conducting technical assessments, developing detailed design specifications, producing bills of materials, providing input to procurement exercises, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, safety in design principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Enhancing the operational performance of electrical networks and supporting the transition towards a smarter, more resilient grid by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and best practices in civil engineering.

Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in civil, pavement, drainage and structural design within the infrastructure sector and major projects.
- Extensive knowledge and layout experience for large-scale BESS installations, substations and electrical projects.
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian standards related to Civil and structural engineering, building and Ausgrid’s Network Standards.
- Ability to undertake extensive technical investigations and interpret highly complex technical information, drawings and reports.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly using Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of engineering analysis software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Experience in 3D model viewing software, for example Revizto or Navisworks 3D
