Your new role
We’re seeking a strategic, commercially driven and forward-thinking Strategy and Business Development Manager to lead one of our most important business lines through its next phase of growth and transformation. In this influential leadership position, you’ll drive the strategic direction, growth initiatives, and regulatory advocacy for our metering business, operating at the intersection of commercial innovation and regulatory complexity in a rapidly evolving energy market.
You will lead the strategic planning and direction of the metering business, developing and executing plans across short, medium, and long-term horizons. This includes identifying opportunities for new products, services, and market expansion, ensuring alignment with PLUS ES’s broader business goals.
You will drive business development and customer acquisition efforts, leading a team of high performing, business development managers. Together, you will cultivate high-value partnerships across a diverse customer base, including energy retailers, embedded network operators, aggregators and large energy users. As a champion of regulatory engagement, you will navigate complex policy environments, identify potential risks and opportunities, and advocate for regulatory outcomes that enable and support business growth.
A key part of the role is managing and strengthening relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and internal stakeholders. Your ability to influence, align, and collaborate will be critical to success. You will also lead and coach a high-performing team of 10, while closely partnering with over 200 professionals across technology, operations, and engineering functions. Your leadership will play a central role in uniting efforts and driving performance across the business.
Finally, you will ensure the commercial success of the metering portfolio through careful financial oversight of strategic initiatives and business development projects, while providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership.

The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in Business, Strategy, Engineering or a related field, and ideally possess additional certifications in business management, energy policy, or regulatory affairs that further support your ability to succeed in a complex, evolving sector.
You will bring deep strategic insight, with strong expertise in business development and strategic planning, ideally within the energy, utilities, or metering sectors. Your ability to see the bigger picture and shape long-term direction will be essential to driving sustainable growth. With a proven track record of success in regulated and transitioning markets, you have demonstrated experience in identifying and capturing growth opportunities, as well as building strong, value-driven partnerships across diverse customer segments.
Your strong commercial acumen includes a solid understanding of product management, customer segmentation, and the financial levers that underpin growth and profitability. You are confident in navigating complex commercial landscapes and translating insights into action. As a natural leader and team builder, you will have a coaching mindset and the ability to inspire collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will create continue to create a high-performing environment and are skilled at fostering trust, alignment, and accountability.
You also bring regulatory awareness and advocacy experience, with the ability to navigate government frameworks, influence policy, and promote outcomes that support commercial objectives. Your knowledge of regulatory environments enables you to assess risk and drive proactive engagement.
