Your new role

Are you passionate about making a difference to customers that want to create, connect and implement energy projects, spanning BESS, EVCI or other HV/MV connection?

Do you envision being part of a high-performing team that solves large and complex energy challenges? In this role you will drive meaningful change by helping shape the future of Australia’s energy infrastructure!

We’re looking for a talented Estimator to join our dynamic Business Development team and help to build Australia’s renewable energy landscape. In this exciting role, you’ll be instrumental in solving energy challenges predominantly across grid connections (HVC/LVC), battery storage of various scales; small (0-1 MW), medium (1-5 MW), and large grid scale 5-150+ MW (BESS) and gradually EV charging (EVCI) projects. By partnering with clients and stakeholders, you’ll develop value-driven solutions and lead the estimation process for both electrical and optionally telco infrastructure projects.

You will play a crucial role in generating and securing both short-term and long-term profitable business, creating proactive, firm, and budgetary proposals with accurate cost and price estimates. Your expertise in translating technical solutions into detailed cost estimates and schedules will ensure each project’s financial viability and success. This is your chance to work on large-scale projects that make a real difference to Australia’s renewable energy future.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates and schedules for electrical infrastructure projects (BESS, EVCI, grid connections) and optionally telecommunications (fibre, DWDM, co-location).
  • Collaborate closely with the Business Development Managers to understand client needs and create value-driven solutions.
  • Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely delivery of high-quality estimates.
  • Produce accurate cost breakdowns, project timelines, and proposal documents that meet client objectives and budgets.

Spark our interest!
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or another closely related discipline, or equivalent industry experience in Estimation, with professional expertise in the electrical/telecommunications infrastructure sector. You will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to tackle complex challenges with precision.

You will be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to build relationships with stakeholders and present ideas clearly. Proficiency in estimation software and tools is essential, ensuring your estimates are both accurate and efficient. Experience with sales methodologies such as Shipley, Holden Power Base Selling and consultative selling is a plus, but not essential.

You will also bring proven experience in the energy sector, with broad knowledge across one or more of the following areas:

  • Contestable connections with distribution/transmission businesses or ASP works
  • High-to low-voltage connections of any kind (Data Centres/Substations/Renewable projects of any kind)
  • Batteries of various scales; small (0-1 MW), medium (1-5 MW), and large grid scale 5-150+ MW (BESS)
  • EVCI/charging infrastructure (with a bonus for heavy vehicle, bus, or fast charging experience)
  • Sustainability/Net Zero initiatives
  • Smart cities and associated infrastructure

Experience contributing to or delivering successful projects that involve electrical infrastructure, EV/charging, grid connections, or battery storage (from small to large-scale BESS) is highly desired, and candidates with this experience will be prioritised.
