Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Transmission Fluid Cable Technician plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of Ausgrid’s Oil Filled Cable Network. This position focuses on the inspection, maintenance, and repair of secondary systems and equipment that support the sub-transmission cable infrastructure.
Your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Install, maintain, and service secondary systems supporting sub-transmission cable systems, including oil and gas monitoring systems for 33kV to 132kV cables.
- Maintain the gas pressure system within the 33kV Gas Feeder Network to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Conduct nitrogen gas leak detection using specialised location methods across the 33kV Gas Feeder Network.
- Perform routine maintenance and fault diagnosis on oil and gas cable alarm systems for 33kV to 132kV networks.

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
- Qualified Electrical Fitter Mechanic – Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
- Class C drivers Licence.
- HR Licence.
- Electrical Safety Rules accreditation.
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures as safe work practices, network standards and codes of practice.
- High Risk Licences (HRWL) – multiple – Forklift, EWP etc.
- Maintain Annual Statutory requirements specified in training matrix.
- WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
- Asbestos awareness and working with asbestos material related to substations and cable jointing works.
- Demonstrate experience in the application of manual handling techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others.
- Confined Space accreditation for access to and working in a confined space.
