See yourself working here
At Ausgrid, we're helping shape a smarter, more sustainable energy future, and this is your opportunity to play a key role in delivering the next generation of energy infrastructure. As a Project Manager, you'll lead the technical delivery and integration of innovative battery energy storage and network projects that will help support the future of our network and the communities we serve.
Working within our BESS engineering team, you'll be at the centre of technical decision-making, using your engineering expertise to lead BESS integration across electrical, control, protection, communications and network interfaces. You'll work closely with designers, engineers and technical specialists, while leading technical interactions with equipment suppliers, procurement teams and commissioning partners to ensure solutions are practical, fit for purpose and successfully integrated into the Ausgrid network.
We're looking for someone who is technically curious, motivated and driven to deliver outcomes. You might be an experienced electrical engineer, technical specialist, OEM engineer, consultant or project leader looking for an opportunity to take broader ownership of complex engineering projects. Previous BESS experience is valuable, but just as important is your ability to learn quickly, get into the technical detail, bring structure to complex problems and bring people together to drive them through to resolution.
What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with strong technical foundations and experience working on complex electrical, power or energy systems.
- A deeply technical and curious mindset, with a genuine desire to understand how systems work, get into the detail and solve complex engineering problems rather than simply coordinate them.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive technical outcomes, bringing structure to complex or ambiguous problems, establishing priorities and following issues through to resolution.
- Strong technical capability, with the ability to understand and critically review engineering designs, equipment specifications, drawings, calculations, control philosophies, testing requirements and system interfaces.
- Experience leading technical interactions and bringing people together to solve problems, whether with equipment suppliers, OEMs, engineering consultants, contractors or multidisciplinary internal teams.
- Strong project drive and the ability to organise and structure your own work, manage competing priorities and maintain momentum across multiple technical issues and stakeholders.
- The confidence to question assumptions, challenge technical solutions and make sound engineering judgements, while building constructive working relationships with suppliers and technical specialists.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex engineering issues into clear decisions, actions and outcomes for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in battery storage, renewable energy or power systems would be highly regarded but is not essential. We are equally interested in technically strong engineers from OEMs, equipment manufacturers, engineering consultancies, utilities and other complex electrical industries who are looking to apply their experience in a new area.
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with the motivation to learn quickly, take responsibility and deliver outcomes in a fast-moving technical environment.
