We’re here to do meaningful things

Are you full of energy, love being outdoors, and don’t shy away from a challenge? Then becoming an Ausgrid Bright Spark Apprentice could be your next big adventure! Our Lineworkers, Cable Jointers and Electricians are the everyday legends who keep our communities switched on - literally.

Here at Ausgrid, we’re working on a future that works for everyone. As a leader in energy distribution, we’re proud of the work we do, delivering safe and reliable electricity to more than 2 million homes and businesses – that’s over 4 million Australians relying on us every day.

We’re driven by our purpose to make electricity accessible for all, and it’s our people that bring this to life. As we continue to grow, we are in search of exceptional talent to help us achieve our goals. We’re working today for a sustainable, affordable tomorrow.

What makes it awesome?

  • Emergency heroes: Step up during outages and wild weather to restore power and keep people safe.
  • Enjoy the outdoors: Work in cities, remote towns, and everywhere in between - no two days are the same.
  • Make a difference: Power homes, hospitals, and schools. Your work really matters every single day.

Our Bright Spark Apprentice Program is the perfect place to kickstart this exciting career. Starting January 2026, you’ll jump into a 4-year apprenticeship packed with real-world experience in overhead works, substations, transmission and underground works.

Here’s what you get:

  • Competitive pay – Because your hard work deserves it. (<21: $739 pw, >21: $1088 pw).
  • Professional growth – Build solid skills for your future.
  • Mentorship and networking – Connect with leaders and mentors to help you grow.
  • Make a difference – We’re working for our communities locally to make global change.

Trade certificates on offer:

  • Lineworker (Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead)
  • Cable Jointer (Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Underground)
  • Electrician (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician)

We’ve got spots available across Sydney, Central Coast and the Hunter regions.

Heads up! If you're chasing an Electrical Apprenticeship, just a quick note - those spots are pretty limited here. Most of our apprentices come on board as Lineworkers, and for good reason. Our overhead network is massive - so big it could wrap around the world 1.2 times! That’s a lot of poles, wires, and high-up action.

What you’ll need to apply:

  • Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Have finished Year 10 or be over 17.
  • Hold, or be working towards, a driver’s licence.

Please note: We request you only apply for ONE of the advertisements, if you reside on the Central Coast, please apply via the South advertisement.

If you require support with your application/reasonable adjustments for the interview process, please reach out to our dedicated Talent team recruitment@ausgrid.com.au.

Applications Close Monday 30 June 2025
