We're looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join our Field Operations technology team and help shape the future of the platforms that support the planning, scheduling and delivery of critical field work across our network.
As a Technical Business Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the continuous improvement, stabilisation and optimisation of Ausgrid's Field Operations application landscape, including our Integrated Works Management System (iWMS) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service platform.
Working at the intersection of business operations and technology, you'll partner closely with operational stakeholders, architects, developers and vendors to translate complex business requirements into scalable, sustainable and user-centred solutions.
You'll be a trusted adviser who helps ensure enhancements are well-designed, future-proofed and aligned with platform roadmaps, while supporting safe, efficient and compliant operational outcomes.
This role reports to our Operations Applications Manager. Location of role is our Haymarket office where the team are based but we are open to locations if candidates are open to travel, we do offer hybrid working.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with Field Operations stakeholders to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and technical requirements.
- Translate operational processes into user stories, technical specifications, interface requirements and solution designs.
- Act as the key link between business users and technical delivery teams.
- Support solution design by assessing feasibility, risks, impacts and dependencies.
- Analyse integrations, APIs, interfaces and data flows across the Field Operations technology ecosystem.
- Drive improvements in system usability, data quality, operational efficiency and user experience.
- Create and maintain business process maps, functional specifications, data flow diagrams and traceability artefacts.
- Use tools such as Figma to help design and validate intuitive user experiences and workflows.
- Support SIT, UAT, defect triage, solution validation and operational readiness activities.
- Ensure solutions align with Microsoft Dynamics 365 design standards, governance requirements and long-term platform strategies.
- Contribute to change management, release readiness and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Experience
- Tertiary qualification in computing science, IT or related discipline supported by demonstrated experience supported by demonstrated experience as a Technical Business Analyst within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong functional understanding of Field Operations / service or Works Management systems.
- Experience working in live operational environments, supporting continuous improvement, stabilisation and enhancement of systems
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service or comparable enterprise platforms with demonstrated ability to align solutions to platform roadmaps (e.g. D365), ensuring future‑proof and sustainable outcomes.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable technical outcomes.
- Experience working with integrations, APIs, interfaces, data models and cross-system dependencies.
- Strong testing and quality assurance experience, including acceptance criteria definition, SIT and UAT support.
- Experience assessing and prioritising defects / enhancements based on operational and business impact.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, influence decisions and bridge business and technical teams
- Knowledge of data quality principles and system integrity within integrated environments.
Highly regarded:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service.
- Exposure to Power Platform and Azure integration services.
- Experience using Figma or similar UI/UX design tools.
- Utilities, energy or field service industry experience.
- Knowledge of Agile, hybrid or waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience supporting change readiness, release management and post-implementation validation.
- Exposure to AI-assisted tools and modern digital delivery practices.
