Senior Storeman
- Permanent Full Time | Starting salary of $86,013 + Plus 16.5% super
- A fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO) in support of work life balance
- This will be based in Wallsend.
Joining Ausgrid’s Warehouse & Distribution field team means becoming part of a group of eight logistics professionals who manage 18 depot stores across the entire Ausgrid network. In this role, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the Wallsend and Salt Ash depot stores, ensuring materials, equipment and reclaimed assets are accurately issued, receipted, put away and organised. Your daily duties will include completing all associated system transactions, investigating and rectifying system discrepancies, adjusting stock levels as requested by field teams, and assisting with customer enquiries. You will also support broader inventory teams, provide coverage for other depots during periods of leave, assist the main Warehouse & Distribution team when operational demand increases, and stock delivery’s when required. This is a hands‑on operational role where your attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and customer focus will directly support field operations and the wider Ausgrid network.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertakes work activities associated with the Warehouse & Distribution group operations, including pick/pack of orders, receipt of materials, put away of materials, stock consolidation and sorting of reclaimed materials.
- Operate independently and with minimal instruction on assigned, standardised tasks.
- Oversees decentralised, permanent store operations when required.
- Assists with developing stock plans, ordering and consuming materials.
- Assist with coaching and on-the-job training for new and less experienced team members.
- Maintains productivity for assigned tasks in-line with key performance indicator targets
- Operates a forklift and crane.
- Completes regular inventory reporting, including weekly stocktakes and replenishment (via consumption) where assigned to manage a depot store.
- As required, drive and safely operate a range of vehicles, including Heavy Rigid Vehicles, as well as operate vehicle loading cranes.
- Comply with all applicable Heavy Vehicle driving regulations and procedures, including fatigue management.
- Comply with organisation safety and environmental systems and procedures.
- Comply with organisation business procedures and systems.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be directed by you manager, in line with the Work Level

Essential Qualifications
- Hold a class HC and HR driver’s licence and have knowledge of maximum axles and gross weights for vehicles.
- Hold forklift and Dogman tickets.
- Hold a current NSW Construction Induction White Card.
- Competency in Load Restraint Guidelines and knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Transportation
- Hold Electrical Safety Rules accreditation
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a similar logistics, procurement or warehouse position.
- Regulations, demonstrated through completion of organisational Chain of Responsibility training
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of inventory control processes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use IT/Warehouse Management software applications and ERP systems.
- Proven analytical thinking and practical approach to problem resolution, ability to logically deconstruct issues and enable the appropriate resolution of technical issues.
- Possess effective communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team or autonomously.
- Demonstrated commitment to undertake further training in Warehouse & Distribution processes and functions.
- Demonstrated commitment to creating a positive relationship in all customer and key stakeholder
- interactions, maintaining a professional and friendly manner and ensuring customer satisfaction as a priority.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise small teams.
- Demonstrated experience with barcode order picking systems.
Desired Criteria
- Hold qualification in Procurement, Logistics or other related field.
- Knowledge of materials and services used within Heavy Industry environment
