The Team

By joining the regulatory team at Ausgrid, you will be instrumental in driving the energy transition, contributing to exciting projects like the shaping of Ausgrid’s regulatory proposal for the Hunter Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone and supporting innovative trial applications. This dynamic team leads critical policy submissions and oversees Ausgrid’s 5-year regulatory proposal, influencing a $2 billion annual revenue allowance. Here you can make a meaningful impact and help to power a sustainable future.

Your new role

As Senior Regulatory Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in driving Ausgrid's regulatory strategy, leading key processes and projects with a focus on shaping the future of energy. Your expertise will be central to drafting high-impact regulatory submissions and expenditure proposals for the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) while advising senior management on complex, multidimensional regulatory matters.

You will provide strategic insights on issues that intersect policy, financial, economic, legal, and engineering considerations, such as the deployment of community batteries and cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, you’ll lead and support policy submissions to regulatory authorities like the AER and the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC), addressing topics including climate resilience, electric vehicles, and innovative arrangements like dynamic operating envelopes.

Your leadership will extend to coordinating and drafting expenditure proposals for major programs within Ausgrid’s regulatory initiatives. You’ll deliver timely and actionable briefings to management on emerging regulatory challenges and opportunities, such as climate resilience, renewable energy zones, and battery technologies, ensuring alignment with Ausgrid’s strategic and commercial objectives.

In this role, you’ll proactively identify regulatory risks and craft strategies to optimize outcomes for Ausgrid. You will also contribute to shaping the customer experience by developing and facilitating industry-leading engagement workshops and focus groups.

Communication will be key as you translate regulatory developments into actionable insights for business units and foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality submissions and reports. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence in a dynamic and impactful space.

Spark our interest!

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

To be successful, you will be able to showcase exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will bring a proactive mindset and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where planning and prioritising are key.

Strong policy and regulatory expertise is a must, particularly a deep understanding of Australia’s national energy reform landscape and its implications for regulated network businesses. Your ability to advise senior management on strategic regulatory and policy issues will be highly regarded.

You’ll also have experience in preparing persuasive written submissions, presenting confidently at public forums, and negotiating effective outcomes with external stakeholders. Those with an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Law or Engineering, paired with experience in a regulated utility business, regulatory body, or a professional services firm, are highly encouraged to apply.

Your sound Excel and analytical skills, attention to detail and proven ability to solve complex problems will set you apart, along with your initiative and adaptability to tackle new challenges. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you enjoy contributing to a supportive and high-performing team environment.

If you’re ready to make an impact in a role that values your expertise, strategic insight and collaborative spirit, this could be the opportunity for you!
