We are seeking a safety-focused and highly skilled Rescue Service Officer to join our team. In this critical role, you will ensure safe access to Ausgrid assets and provide standby and rescue capability for confined space work across our network.

Your day-to-day will involve preparing and issuing confined space permits, setting up safe worksites, and maintaining fall arrest and rescue equipment. You’ll play a vital role in emergency preparedness and response, including implementing documented rescue plans and liaising with internal teams, contractors, and emergency services.

This is a hands-on role where your expertise in confined space entry and rescue will help keep our people safe and our network running.

 

What you bring to the role

You’ll bring:

  • A Class C Driver Licence and Ausgrid fundamental safety training (CPR, First Aid, LV Rescue, HAC/SWMS, Substation Entry).
  • Full competency in Confined Space Entry and Rescue, including SCBA use and current accreditation in nationally recognised units such as:
    • PUASAR025A – Undertake confined space rescue
    • HLTAID007 – Provide advanced resuscitation
    • PUAFIR207B – Operate breathing apparatus open circuit
  • Strong knowledge of WHS regulations, safe work practices, and Ausgrid’s operating environment.
  • Physical and mental capability to perform rescues in challenging environments.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable: Electrical trade qualifications, trainer/assessor credentials, and advanced life support training.
