This is your opportunity to play a key role in one of Australia’s most dynamic renewable energy growth areas. Ausgrid, together with PLUS ES (part of the Ausgrid Group), is leading the delivery of community battery and grid-scale BESS programs across our network, while PLUS ES continues to extend this capability into the external market.

Reporting to the PLUS ES BESS Engineering and Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and commissioning of primary, secondary and communications equipment across distribution, zone and sub-transmission networks. Your work will help ensure we deliver safe, reliable and sustainable energy for our customers and communities.

As an Advanced Technician, you’ll support Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) operations, undertaking Level 2 maintenance, technical checks and on-call fault response. You’ll play a hands-on role in setting technical and safety standards, contributing to the performance, reliability and future of energy storage and grid stability.

This role requires remote travel. You may also be required to participate in on-call and after-hours response as part of your responsibilities.

To be successful, you must have: 

  • Qualification in a relevant electrical trade - Cert III Electrotechnology Systems Electrician (or equivalent). 
  • A Class C drivers’ licence. 
  • A WH&S Work Cover – General Induction.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out commissioning, maintenance, operation and fault finding of primary equipment and secondary equipment/systems in accordance with relevant Operating.
  • Ability to work in distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations without supervision.
