Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you’ll join the Transmission Development and Growth group, a team leading the delivery of the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (HCC REZ) — the most significant enhancement to Ausgrid’s network in over 25 years. This transformative initiative will enable the transfer of 1 gigawatt of renewable energy by 2028, supporting a reliable and sustainable energy future for the region.
The program includes:
- Upgrading 85km of existing sub-transmission power lines
- Building two new substations
- Multiple brownfield substation augmentations
- Installing 18km of new underground fibre optic communications cable
As a Project Officer, you’ll be responsible for coordinating and delivering infrastructure projects that directly support this critical work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing components of work that support project delivery
- Preparing project documentation including management plans, site records, quality and safety documentation, reports, and programs.
- Management and oversight of construction activities.
- Maintaining project and asset management systems, including data population.
- Coordinating safe network access
- Coordinating resources, plant, equipment, and contracted services to meet project requirements.
- Building effective stakeholder relationships, including internal teams, landowners, councils, and external bodies.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and legislation.
- Administering contracts and tenders, including procurement and implementation oversight.
- Conducting audits and inspections to ensure governance and performance standards are met.
- Investigating and reporting on equipment performance and defects.
- Facilitating project risk assessments, lessons learned, and close-out reporting.
What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
- Tertiary qualifications or an Advanced Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and successfully delivering projects.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and financial oversight.
- Intermediate computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and project management systems.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Sound knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes on time and within budget.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to provide a regular presence on site throughout the Hunter region.
Desirable:
- Extensive experience in a similar role within the electricity supply industry.
- Experience in facilitating access to the Ausgrid network.
- Understanding of related engineering disciplines.
