We’re seeking expressions of interest to join Ausgrid at the forefront of Australia's energy transformation, delivering some of the state's most significant infrastructure projects, including the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (HCC REZ) and major data centre connections. In this role, you will oversee the development and delivery of complex internal and external infrastructure projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, stakeholder engagement, and approvals.
You will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes by leading project development activities, managing relationships with government agencies, project proponents, communities and key stakeholders, and ensuring Ausgrid's network interests are effectively represented. Working across large-scale capital programs and external infrastructure developments, you'll drive strategic decision-making, manage risks, establish commercial arrangements, and deliver solutions that support the future growth and reliability of the network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading teams through the development and planning phases of major infrastructure and capital projects.
- Managing stakeholder, community and government engagement to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Providing strategic oversight of engineering, environmental, commercial and risk management activities.
- Developing robust business cases, project scopes and delivery strategies to support governance approvals.
- Establishing and managing commercial arrangements with external project proponents.
- Driving continuous improvement, lessons learnt and best-practice project delivery across the portfolio.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.
- Degree qualifications in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience leading the planning, design and development of major infrastructure, utilities, energy or capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management and business case development, with the ability to drive sound decision-making throughout project lifecycles.
- Proven ability to develop innovative, practical and cost-effective solutions to complex infrastructure challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in project delivery, including contract, procurement, financial and resource management.
- Established leadership experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams, driving continuous improvement and successfully leading change.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and deliver successful outcomes.
- Highly developed communication and business-writing skills, including the preparation of executive reports, submissions, business cases and briefing papers.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across government, industry, community and organisational stakeholders.
- Sound judgement, professionalism and discretion when managing sensitive, commercial or confidential matters.
