Reporting to the PMO Lead we’re looking for a Project Controls Lead to take ownership of project controls across a portfolio of major projects driving cost performance, strengthening controls, and providing the insights that enable smarter business decisions.

 

In this role, you’ll sit at the centre of project delivery and play a key leadership role in ensuring robust project controls are in place while partnering with Project Managers and stakeholders to influence outcomes and optimise performance. You’ll bring a deep understanding of how projects operate commercially including contracts, payment terms, invoicing cycles, and cost impacts and translate this into clear, actionable insights actionable insights through our Primavera 6 system.

 

This is an individual contributor role to support several exciting projects underway and based is located at our Haymarket Head Office, where we offer hybrid working options.

 

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the development and implementation of project control frameworks, systems, and governance across projects and program.
  • Oversee the preparation and issuance of cost reports, control curves, and forecasts in line with the project execution strategy.
  • Set, monitor and compare main KPI’s and project performance, identifying variances and recommending timely corrective actions.
  • Provide Project Managers with accurate, up-to-date status reports across the project portfolio
  • Review and understand all relevant project documentation, including contracts, key conditions, and technical requirements.
  • Oversee cost control, forecasting, and performance reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with delivery strategy
  • Monitor project KPIs, identify variances, and lead corrective actions to protect cost and schedule outcomes
  • Deliver high-quality reporting, dashboards, and insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
     

Key skills and experience

You’re a commercially astute Project Controls Lead who sees the full picture not just data, and how cost, contracts, and delivery interact to drive outcomes.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Significant experience leading project controls on large, complex projects.
  • Advanced capability in Primavera P6, SAP, and project reporting tools.
  • Ability to translate schedule and cost data into clear business insights and actions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and performance optimisation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, change management, and cost analysis.
  • Proven experience in directing planning and scheduling activities, including schedule development, monitoring, control, and performance analysis.
  • Experience in contract administration, including claims management, variation orders, and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary and cross-border teams. Skilled in commercial risk identification such as; scope changes, productivity losses, resource allocation inefficiencies and implementing mitigation measures.
