This is a unique opportunity to help shape one of Australia's most innovative distributed energy programs.

Reporting to the Project Director, Distributed Energy Storage, you will establish and lead the delivery function for Ausgrid's Community Power Networks (CPN) program. This pioneering initiative will deliver approximately 300 community energy installations across Sydney and the Central Coast over the next three years, helping accelerate the transition to a more flexible and resilient energy network.

In this newly created leadership role, you will build the delivery capability from the ground up, developing the operating model, establishing strategic delivery partnerships, growing a high-performing team, and creating the governance and systems needed to safely scale the program.

You will be responsible for transforming a pipeline of candidate sites into a repeatable, high-volume infrastructure rollout program. Success will come from your ability to lead staff and delivery partners, drive strong safety and commercial outcomes, and deliver consistent quality across a geographically dispersed portfolio of sites.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead the design and construct function for Ausgrid's Community Power Networks program.
• Develop and implement a scalable delivery model to support the rollout of hundreds of community energy sites.
• Establish and manage strategic contractor and delivery partner relationships across design and construction delivery.
• Lead the safe delivery of works across public streetscapes, road corridors and operational utility environments.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of community energy sites, overseeing validation, design, approvals, construction and commissioning while driving standardisation, constructability and continuous improvement to support efficient, scalable program delivery.
• Monitor and manage program performance, with respect to units delivered, cost and WHS metrics.
• Resolve complex construction, stakeholder and operational issues that may impact delivery outcomes.
• Establish and manage the contract interfaces required to deliver the program works.
• Recruit, develop and lead a high-performing delivery team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What you bring to the role

To succeed in this role, you'll be an experienced infrastructure delivery leader who understands how to move programs from pilot to scale. You've successfully delivered contractor-led programs across multiple sites and know how to build the systems, partnerships and teams required to execute safely and efficiently.

You will bring:

• Significant experience leading contractor-delivered infrastructure, deployment or rollout programs.
• Proven success delivering high-volume, geographically dispersed programs of work within large, complex organisations.
• Demonstrated leadership in safety, with experience managing WHS risks and fostering a strong safety culture across field-based infrastructure, construction or utility environments.
• Strong commercial acumen, contractor and contract management capability, with experience managing delivery partners to achieve performance outcomes.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across design, construction, commissioning and project delivery functions.
• Proven ability to establish and scale delivery operating models, processes and systems within emerging or rapidly growing programs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with experience consulting and negotiating across internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.

Highly regarded

• Experience delivering distributed energy or streetscape infrastructure projects, including community batteries, energy storage systems, EV charging, utility connections, telecommunications, NBN or similar programs, ideally within an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) environment.
• Experience establishing and managing strategic delivery partner models, contractor panels or rapidly scaling delivery functions and teams.
