We’re looking for a strong technical leader to guide a specialised team within our Network Test & Measurement Services function. In this role, you will lead a team of up to 7 Engineering Officers delivering calibration services that directly support network safety, compliance, and performance. The role is based at the Silverwater Learning Centre.
You will provide hands‑on leadership, ensure operational discipline, maintain laboratory systems and critical calibration equipment, and uphold compliance with NATA accreditation requirements. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strong technical capability with mature stakeholder engagement, quality assurance and effective people leadership.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a specialised team delivering calibration services across a wide range of electrical, electronic and measurement instruments
- Coordinating and overseeing daily laboratory activities, including allocating resources and supporting calibration operations
- Engaging with customers, internal and external stakeholders, and delivery teams to share technical information, resolve issues and ensure smooth delivery of calibration services
- Ensuring calibration equipment, laboratory facilities and servicing plans are maintained, calibrated and compliant with ISO/IEC 17025 and NATA requirements
- Providing technical advice on calibration methods, measurement processes, uncertainty budgets, equipment and investigations
- Supporting the development, refinement and continuous improvement of laboratory technical work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Supporting the introduction of new technologies and methodologies
- Managing safety, compliance and team performance, including audits, competency verification, documentation and capability development
- Overseeing laboratory accreditation activity, including assessments, evidence management, scope reviews and quality system improvements
- Managing spare parts and consumables inventory to support efficient calibration workflows

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
- Degree or Advance Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- A leadership style grounded in accountability, safety, quality and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in laboratory, calibration or measurement‑based environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Sound judgement and resilience in high‑pressure or time‑critical situations
- A solid understanding of ISO/IEC 17025, NATA accreditation requirements, calibration methodologies and quality system principles
