The Overhead Working Leading Hand plays a pivotal role in delivering good work safely, ensuring the safety, reliability, sustainability and affordability of our network. You’ll lead and coordinate field employees to carry out work safely and efficiently, in line with approved standards, with safety at the centre of everything you do.

This includes overseeing on‑site activities such as safety protocols, permits and coordination with other teams, as well as leading emergency restoration work and responding to customer issues when required. You’ll mentor and support less experienced employees, provide technical advice, and work closely with planners and schedulers to allocate resources effectively and prepare job sites for upcoming work, ensuring every task is planned well and done right the first time.



What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

 

  • Qualified Line Worker– Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent) plus proven experience in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution or relevant industry.
  • Class C drivers licence.
  • High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – multiple such as Elevated Work Platform and Dogging.
  • WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
  • Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or coordinating the work of other employees or contractors within own or other work group.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
  • Asbestos awareness and experience working safely with asbestos materials related to line work.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others.
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with customers, including the resolution of complaints / issues.
  • Demonstrated capability to complete both written and system based documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work activities.
