Meet our team!

The Asset Insights team has a mission to deliver new insights into the operation and performance of Ausgrid’s electricity network, spanning over 500,000 poles, 50,000km of underground and overhead cables, and over 30,000 substations. It includes leading our drone operations, developing our digital twins, and providing asset information management and analytic support to the wider business.

 

Your new role

Reporting to the Manager Asset Insights, the Network Digitisation Technical Lead is responsible for the effective design and implementation of initiatives within Ausgrid’s Network Digitisation Program, both ‘business as usual’ support and implementation of new opportunities. This program aims to create a more efficient and safer electricity network by developing Ausgrid’s digital twin capabilities to enhance the value and accessibility of our asset information. You will Lead the delivery of complex, multifaceted projects involving IT and physical systems and processes, ensuring success of projects and delivery by proactively managing risk, resources and constraints.

 

Your key responsibilities will also include:

 

  • Development of technical data requirements (e.g. data standards, catalogues and specifications) related to digitisation activities, including digital twin analytics and drone operation (including LiDAR, photography and other sensor data)
  • Investigation, analysis and delivery of new systems and processes to support business use of data and information derived from and to support the digital twin
  • Investigation, analysis and delivery of new systems and processes to support the efficient operation of drones within Ausgrid and increase our capability to utilise and deliver an increasing scope of drone services within the business
  • Lead data analysis and generation of insights from the digitisation program, including specification and development of reports and specification of analytic tools for development by relevant specialists
  • Engagement with business stakeholders, vendors and the wider industry to develop scope, objectives, requirements and opportunities for the digitisation program, in conjunction with the program manager
  • Preparation of business cases, briefs, reports and presentations to support the development and delivery of digital twin initiatives
  • Ensuring appropriate integration with other existing business information systems are fit for purpose, operational and current

This position will make projects and initiatives within the Network Digitisation Program happen through hands-on implementation of tools, systems, processes and workflows. Key to success will be collaboration and a delivery-focus with an ability to deliver on technical elements of Network Digitisation projects, whilst managing individual project milestones and deliverables and engaging with a project resources and stakeholders.

 

 

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following skills:

 

  • Degree in Engineering or similar; and eligible for Professional Membership of Engineers Australia; or an Advanced Diploma in Engineering and significant experience gained in a large, complex engineering environment
  • Experience in utility asset management and information management
  • Familiarity with supporting documents relevant to the delivery of network capital and maintenance programs, especially determinations of the Australian Energy Regulator, Work Health and Safety Act and Network Standards
  • Knowledge of digital twin technologies and their application in the built environment, ideally in distributed networks such as energy or water.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office; experience with digital twin, survey/LiDAR and drone software desirable.
  • Demonstrated capacity to consult and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive or personal matters
  • Knowledge of spatial survey technologies such as LiDAR, photogrammetry and associated analytics (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI systems and their application to utility network asset information.
