Ausgrid is on an exciting renewables transformation journey, and now is the time to be a part of something big! As a leader in energy distribution, we’re proud to service Sydney, the Hunter and Central Coast, delivering safe and reliable electricity to more than 1.8 million homes and businesses – that’s over 4 million Australians relying on us every day.

Our purpose is to make electricity accessible for all, and it’s our people that bring this to life. As we continue to grow, we are in search of exceptional talent to help us achieve our goals. Together, we can move towards a smarter, more sustainable future.

About the role

Help keep our network, safe, reliable and compliant. Ausgrid is looking for a skilled Network Connection Inspector to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of new and altered electricity network connections across our service area. This role inspects and assesses new and altered network connections to ensure compliance with Ausgrid's Network Standards, NSW Service and Installation Rules, and regulatory requirements, providing technical oversight and customer support to enable safe and efficient network operations.

If you're an experienced electrical trades professional who enjoys technical problem-solving, stakeholder interaction and working independently in the field, this is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact.

As a Network Connection Inspector, you will:

  • Inspect low voltage service connections to ensure compliance with Ausgrid Network Standards, NSW Service & Installation Rules, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Level 2 ASP compliance inspections following Notification of Service Work (NOSW) submissions.
  • Lead complex inspections on high voltage, high-current, rotating generation, and emerging technology installations.
  • Review switchboard layouts and protection systems for compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve complex metering issues, including crossed metering, excessive accounts, illegal or unauthorised connections, and lost or stolen meters.
  • Provide clear, professional technical advice to customers, electricians, and Accredited Service Providers.
  • Identify and communicate defects, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support emergency response activities, including major weather events and network incidents.
  • Prepare accurate, concise inspection reports and maintain detailed records.
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant standards, regulations and Ausgrid procedures.

What you’ll bring

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified electrical tradesperson (Certificate III – System Electrician) plus Qualified Supervisor Certificate (Electrician).
  • Relevant restricted operating authority.
  • Class C driver’s licence.
  • Strong working knowledge of Wiring Rules, NSW Service & Installation Rules, relevant Australian Standards, and Ausgrid’s electrical safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, compliance audits or metering investigations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and technical assessment capability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation.
  • Good computer literacy and ability to use Ausgrid and general business systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Ausgrid-specific software tools and systems.
