The Manager, H&S Assurance and Learning leads the design and delivery of assurance and investigation programs that enable Ausgrid to do good work safely and continuously improve. This role drives risk-informed insights through high-quality audits and investigations, while championing a learning, fair and just culture. Leading a specialist team, the role focuses on strengthening organisational capability, improving the experience of investigations and audits, and using data-driven insights to uplift safety performance and outcomes across the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver health & safety assurance and investigation programs, aligned to risk, strategy and regulatory requirements
- Build and lead a centre of excellence for assurance and investigations, driving safer outcomes across Ausgrid
- Support the uplift of a learning culture, improving how investigations and audits are experienced and embedded
- Provide strategic advice and coaching to senior leaders on assurance, investigations and emerging risk themes
- Generate insights that inform risk intelligence and executive and board-level decision-making
- Represent Ausgrid in industry and regulatory forums, translating insights into continuous improvement opportunities
- Support engagement with regulators and external stakeholders, providing assurance and investigation insights
What you bring to the role

- Degree, postgraduate qualifications or equivalent in human factors, risk or occupational health and safety disciplines, coupled with a minimum 5 years’ experience in leading WHS assurance, investigations and risk management activities in high-risk sectors or equivalent.
- Proven experience in applying ICAM, Learning Teams or other similar investigation approaches.
- Proven experience working with and delivering executive and board level reports with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing initiatives to enable targeted cultural change, supporting a learning and fair and just culture approach.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of field-based work practices and systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety theory and practical application across complex, geographically disbursed, matrixed organisations including Safety 2, Human and Organisational Performance (HOPs), Human Factors and Critical Control Management.
- Adaptive and agile critical thinking and processing ability, who can translate complex, technical issues into simple, easy to understand explanations or processes.
- Sound understanding of enterprise and operational risk management practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of contractor management and delivery models.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A SafeWork Induction for Construction Work white card.
