We're seeking an experienced Inventory Quality & Standards Advisor to join our Supply Chain Operations team in a unique opportunity that offers genuine breadth, ownership and exposure across critical business functions. Work with a highly experienced and collaborative Supply Chain Operations team and partner with stakeholders across Engineering, Warehousing, Procurement and Asset Management. 

This role plays an important part in ensuring the quality, accuracy and governance of the materials and equipment that support our network operations. Working closely with Procurement, Warehousing, Engineering and Supply Chain stakeholders, you'll be responsible for maintaining materials master data, managing catalogue standards and driving continuous improvement across inventory processes. 

We are flexible with the role being located between our Somersby Warehouse and our Haymarket, Sydney CBD office. We offer hybrid working arrangements and the successful candidate will be expected to work across both sites as required, including attending the Haymarket office at least one day per week. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

You'll be the subject matter expert for inventory master data and catalogue management, ensuring material information remains accurate, consistent and fit for purpose across the business. 

You will: 

 

  • Manage and maintain inventory master data and material catalogues 

  • Create and govern stock codes and catalogue standards 

  • Support quality control processes for inventory and network equipment 

  • Partner with engineering, warehouse and supply chain teams to resolve material-related issues 

  • Review and manage obsolete inventory and catalogue rationalisation activities 

  • Support supplier and stakeholder engagement to ensure compliance with quality standards 

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives across inventory and supply chain operations 

  • Coordinate insurance spares and critical inventory requirements 

This is a role with significant variety and autonomy, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while shaping how inventory and catalogue standards are managed across Ausgrid. 

 

What you bring to the role 

We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of inventory, materials management and supply chain operations. 

You may come from: 

  • Electricity, utilities or energy sectors 

  • Warehousing and distribution environments 

  • Asset-intensive industries such as transport, manufacturing, mining or defence 

  • Electrical, engineering or technical inventory management backgrounds 

 

You'll bring: 

  • Experience working with inventory, materials management, cataloguing or master data 

  • Exposure to ERP systems, ideally SAP (MM experience highly regarded) 

  • Strong attention to detail and data quality focus 

  • Experience creating, maintaining or governing stock codes and material records 

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills 

  • The ability to work autonomously while partnering effectively across multiple teams 

  • A continuous improvement mindset and desire to drive better outcomes
