  • Permanent Full Time | Starting salary of $140,820 + Plus 16.5% super with take home vehicle use
  • A fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO) in support of work life balance 
  • Flexible to multiple locations of Oatley, Silverwater, Potts Hill, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Cessnock, Beresfield, Thorton, Salt Ash or Homebush.

Following a realignment of our structure to support our shift towards a learning, fair and just culture, we are creating new opportunities for passionate health and safety professionals to partner with our people and leaders across diverse, high-risk portfolios. In this role, you’ll support the implementation of our 5-year Safety Rewired Strategy, helping to embed contemporary safety practices, strengthen risk management and contribute to projects across our network, major projects, battery systems and emerging markets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Model visible leadership and actively demonstrate our Work Safe Live Safe and Customer-focused values.
  • Support our cultural transformation, partnering across our operational portfolios, working with our frontline leaders. Health and Safety Representative (HSRs) and Health and Safety Committees (HSCs)
  • Support the delivery and implementation of the Safety Rewired Strategy and programs, aiding change management processes to ensure effective adoption across client groups.
  • Lead and facilitate risk management, compliance reviews, and corrective action management activities across occupational and psychosocial hazards.
  • Lead public safety incident investigations and reporting requirements.
  • Translate data and trend analysis into business-unit-specific insights that support the identification of emerging risks and themes..
  • Champion innovative ways of working that support our strategic objectives and reduce risk to our people and communities.
  • Assist with tendering, contractor onboarding and joint venture assurance and risk management activities.

Essential Qualifications

  • Diploma level tertiary qualifications in work, health and safety and/or relevant trade-based qualifications or equivalent.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in a H&S role in high-risk industries. Demonstrated knowledge of safety theory and practical application across complex, geographically disbursed, matrixed organisations including Safety 2, Human and Organisational Performance (HOPs),
  • Human Factors and Critical Control Management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate, influence, coach and mentor stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation of complex risk assessments and investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
  • Adaptive and agile critical thinking and processing ability, with the capacity to translate complex technical issues into simple, easy-to-understand explanations or processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contractor management and delivery models.
  • This role will be required to provide coverage of afternoon/night shift as required, in line with the EBA provisions.
  • This role will be required to respond to serious incidents and injuries.

 

Desired Criteria

  • Degree, postgraduate qualifications or equivalent in human factors, risk or occupational health and safety
  • disciplines
  • Sound understanding of high-risk work activities in transmission or distribution networks or the renewable
  • energy sector.
  • Lead Auditor OH&S Management Systems qualification.
  • Certification IV in Training and Assessment.
