Your new role

 

This is your opportunity to play a key role in one of Australia's most dynamic renewable energy growth areas. Ausgrid together with PLUS ES (part of the Ausgrid Group) is looking for an Operations and Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Officer to join the team.

 

Specifically focused on Infrastructure Services, this role is essential to the continued success of PLUS ES’s EVCI, BOM Fibre and Electrical (Embedded/SAPs etc) Network management. You will play a key role in the ongoing support, maintenance, and operational readiness of these assets for PLUS ES & our Operation & Maintenance customers. This role will be pivotal in shaping and implementing long-term asset management strategies, maintenance practices, and engineering support for a growing fleet of EVCI, underground & overheard fibre assets, and electrical infrastructure, while mentoring field teams and supporting external commercial clients.

 

The Opportunity

 

As the Operations and Maintenance Engineer/Engineering Officer – Infrastructure Services, you will work closely with the relevant Portfolio Manager’s to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient ongoing operation of infrastructure assets. You will take the lead on technical field support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and systems.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading the development and/or implementation of asset management systems and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in technical response to operational issues and maintenance activities across PLUS ES assets.
  • Collaborating with engineering, asset performance, delivery, and vendor teams to ensure high availability and reliability of EVCI sites fibre links.
  • Developing and refining O&M work practices, templates, maintenance schedules, and fault response protocols to ensure consistent outcomes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on operational KPIs, site availability, and defect trends to drive program performance and insights.
  • Providing mentoring and technical support to field technicians and operational staff.
  • Supporting the long-term optimisation of PLUS ES’s ECVI and BOM Fibre portfolios.
  • Support the Business Development Team in responding to market opportunities, enabling growth of PLUS ES O&M business.

About You

You're an experienced field technician, project manager or engineer with a strong background in operations and maintenance of electrical and infrastructure. You bring:

  • Proven experience in technical field support, maintenance engineering, or operations roles – ideally involving electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance practices, asset reliability, and safety procedures.
  • Experience developing or implementing maintenance documentation, schedules, and systems.
  • A leadership mindset and ability to support, guide, and mentor operational teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and a structured approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
