Your new role

Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Distribution Technician will have a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, sustainability, and affordability of our network assets for our valued customers.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:  

 

  • Inspect, install and maintain network infrastructure and electrical equipment.
  • Perform Low Voltage switching operations.
  • Fabricate, assemble, maintain, and dismantle electricity supply industry components of any voltage.
  • Work safely and operate plant and equipment near live electrical conductors and apparatus.
  • Participate in assessment and preparation of job sites for upcoming work
  • Liaise with key internal and external contacts such as customers and contractors as well as support the resolution of any customer complaints.
  • Use, interpret and apply drawings, basic diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications.
  • Participate in emergency restoration work.

Energise us through your skills and qualifications in: 

  • Qualified Electrician – Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
  • Class C drivers licence.
  • Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
  • WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
  • Asbestos awareness and understanding of how to work safely with asbestos materials related to working in substations or on the network.
  • Demonstrated awareness of safe manual handling techniques.
  • Basic skills in the use of computers and mobile devices.
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew.
