Responsible for the end‑to‑end leadership and delivery of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), high‑voltage infrastructure and contestable grid connection projects within a complex and rapidly evolving environment. You will play a critical role in translating strategic objectives into safe, reliable and commercially sound energy infrastructure outcomes that meet customer, community and organisational expectations.
Leading large-scale, multidisciplinary programs of work, you will integrate engineering design, project management, civil and electrical construction, and contract management to ensure assets are delivered efficiently and perform as intended over their lifecycle. With accountability for major capital programs, you’ll balances safety, environmental, financial, schedule and quality outcomes while navigating competing priorities and finite resources.
Operating at a senior level, working closely with Executive leadership, Boards, customers and regulators, and will drive strong internal and external partnerships. You will have a strong commercial focus, including market engagement, contract oversight, risk allocation and P&L accountability, supporting project origination, bid development and the securing of future work.
- Build, lead and develop high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams with a strong culture of safety, accountability and performance
- Set strategic program objectives and direct trade‑offs between safety, cost, time, quality and stakeholder expectations within finite resources
- Develop and implement effective project delivery, operational and blended delivery strategies, including robust risk and WHS management
- Manage complex interfaces across work packages, delivery phases, internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless system integration
- Oversee market engagement, contract administration and issue resolution, ensuring appropriate commercial and risk allocation
- Monitor project, contract and supplier performance, intervening as required to achieve desired outcomes
- Provide clear, accurate reporting to Executive, Board and key stakeholders on progress, risks and expected performance outcomes
- Drive project origination activities, including win‑strategy development, estimating and bid oversight
What you bring to the role
To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, project management or other transferable discipline.
- 10+ years’ experience in the delivery of major infrastructure projects/programs.
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of BESS, high voltage infrastructure, and contestable grid projects and programs.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the power industry, encompassing the service provider market, parallel networks, and regulatory environment.
- Extensive experience in planning, monitoring and controlling projects with multiple dependencies and complex stakeholder interactions.
- Extensive experience in managing WHS legislation throughout the project/program lifecycle; contracting, through delivery, assurance, reporting and operations and maintenance.
- Extensive experience in directing environmental assessments, approvals, property acquisition and stakeholder management activities.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive experience in the establishment and administration of contracts, risk management, negotiation and dispute resolution.
- Excellent knowledge of bid management, estimating, budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- High level oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated management and organisational skills, with proven capability to manage a group of people with diverse skillsets, competing priorities and deliver high quality outcomes to meet agreed timeframes and budgets.
