We’re the largest distributor of electricity on Australia’s east coast, which means over two million homes and businesses rely on our good work. We’re here at the heart of the energy transition, and we’re driven by a powerful purpose to make electricity accessible for all.

It’s an exciting new chapter for our company with each day bringing a renewed energy to how we deliver, store and use electricity. As we continue to grow, we’re in search of exceptional talent to help us achieve our goals.

Everyone’s job is important here. Our customers come from all walks of life, and so do we. We’re committed to fostering a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace, and encourage applications from all backgrounds.

See yourself working here
We’re seeking a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) System Engineer to ensure the safe, compliant, and optimised performance of Consumer and Distributed Energy Resources (CER/DER) like rooftop solar and batteries. You will operate and optimise platforms including Utility Server, DERMS, and dynamic operating envelope engines, managing system configurations, implementing protocols such as the Common Smart Inverter Profile – Australia (CSIP-AUS), and overseeing day-to-day system reliability and compliance.

You will diagnose and resolve complex Level 2 and 3 technical issues, collaborate with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), installers, technology partners, other distributors, and internal teams, and govern CSIP-AUS aligned onboarding and device validation. You will also coordinate Minimum System Load (MSL) control events and capability testing, analyse telemetry and event outcomes, manage compliance testing, and monitor DER performance to recommend operational improvements.

Leveraging DERMS data, you will inform control strategies, support system enhancement planning, contribute to vendor roadmap discussions, and help shape future DERMS capabilities, while maintaining and improving documentation, procedures, and user guides.

What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

To be successful, you will hold a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or demonstrate equivalent capability through relevant experience. You will bring experience in DERMS and CER/DER integration, along with strong expertise configuring and managing control systems. A solid understanding of CSIP-AUS, particularly in relation to inverter communications, dynamic operating envelopes, and grid interoperability, will be essential.

You will also demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration capabilities.

Experience within the utilities sector will be highly regarded, particularly exposure to operational or control room environments. A deeper understanding of CSIP-AUS implementation and experience supporting Virtual Power Plant portfolios will be advantageous.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of distributed energy integration, contributing directly to network stability, innovation, and the future evolution of the electricity grid.
