See yourself working here

As Cost Controller in our Transmission Development & Growth team, you’ll play a key role in managing the financial health of major infrastructure projects.

You’ll lead cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting across complex programs, helping ensure every dollar delivers value. Working closely with project managers, commercial leads and finance teams, you’ll bring clarity, discipline and insight to Ausgrid’s capital delivery.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems to track, monitor, and report on actual and forecast project costs at all levels (program, work package, and contract).
  • Prepare and review project budgets, forecasts, accruals, and cash flow projections, ensuring alignment with Ausgrid’s governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on cost performance, identifying variances and trends, and provide actionable insights to project and commercial leads.
  • Support the management of payment claims, cost variations, and change control processes.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc cost reports, dashboards, and analysis to support decision-making and regulatory submissions.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory and board reporting, including capex/opex breakdowns and cost allocation justifications.

This is a role for someone who thrives on detail, sees the bigger picture, and enjoys turning numbers into decisions. You’ll help shape our energy transition by keeping projects financially sound, transparent and compliant.

What you bring to the role

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in cost control or project controls for large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in cost management systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting processes.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Understanding of risk, compliance, and performance monitoring frameworks.
