Ausgrid is on an exciting transformation journey and now is the time to be a part of something big. We are proud to service Australia’s east coast, as a leading business in energy distribution, delivering a safe and reliable electricity supply to more than 1.8 million homes – that’s over four million Australians relying on us every day.

Our vision is simple; for our communities to have the power for a resilient, affordable net zero future.

We take pride in knowing that the work we collectively achieve today, will transform the world tomorrow. We value a culture of working and living safely, being customer focussed, commercially minded, collaborative, honest, accountable, and respectful. Our values are not just initiatives driven by leaders; they define the way we work.

Your new role
This multifaceted role aids senior leaders in achieving effective strategic outcomes by offering financial and commercial insights across a broad range of corporate finance, commercial, and strategic initiatives. You will help drive the organisation’s financial and strategic ambitions through the application of the capital allocation framework and robust financial and commercial analysis.

You will be accountable for managing and continually improving the organisation’s corporate model. This includes updating the model for various aspects such as business plans, budgeting, forecasts, scenario analysis, debt and capital market initiatives, valuation processes, and other strategic initiatives. In addition, you will oversee the business planning processes, working closely with senior team members and the Executive Leadership team. This involves providing the necessary data, analysis, and corporate finance expertise to support sound commercial decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include preparing presentations and documentation that detail your due diligence, financial and commercial analysis (including financial modelling) of potential acquisitions, strategic initiatives and other special projects. This includes managing these opportunities and coordinating with external advisors. Collaboration with the organisation’s regulatory team will be essential to understand the implications of changes in the regulatory environment, particularly regarding decisions and outcomes from the Australian Energy Regulator and similar bodies.

This role will see you work alongside the Tax and Reporting team on half-yearly impairment tests, financial statement audits, thin capitalisation tests, and intercompany financing transactions as well as closely collaborate with the Treasury team to develop debt management strategies and explore potential refinancing scenarios. This includes preparing presentations for debt investors and managing the model audits.

Spark our interest!
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

We are seeking a degree qualified professional in Commerce, Business, Economics, or another closely related discipline, complemented by experience in the financial modelling, infrastructure advisory or corporate finance division of a Big 4 accounting firm, the corporate finance function of an infrastructure company or investment bank.

The role requires complex financial modelling skills, with the ability to articulate how underlying drivers contribute to financial outcomes across all three financial statements, ultimately impacting valuation and key outputs, such as credit metrics.

A strong understanding of valuation methodologies and finance fundamentals is essential, along with experience in infrastructure-style valuation and operating models, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate should also have experience with financing processes and credit ratings, as well as knowledge of financial structures and credit metrics specific to infrastructure businesses and projects.

Attention to detail is crucial, including the ability to develop and implement effective error-checking methodologies. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills are necessary, especially the ability to simplify complex analyses for key senior stakeholders. Additionally, the successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive financial or commercial matters.

Candidates with strong strategic and analytical abilities and a deep understanding of business acumen within regulated network businesses are highly encouraged to apply.
