Your new role
As Communications Leader you will be at the forefront of shaping and executing external communication strategies. Your expertise will be pivotal in creating a diverse array of collateral, including materials for community and stakeholder engagement, proactive and reactive media releases, newsletter articles, and social media posts. Your efforts will amplify Ausgrid's initiatives, fostering understanding of who we are, what we do and support for our innovative projects.

 

In this role you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to craft compelling messaging that aligns with Ausgrid's objectives and values. You will work closely with brand and marketing, public affairs, policy and stakeholder engagement teams to:
 

  • Develop and execute external communications plans, ensuring consistency of message between all stakeholders and community.
  • Develop communications materials for community and stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute internal communications plans which keep our people informed and drive employee engagement.
  • Support marketing campaigns that meet the marketing strategies, objectives, metrics, and promotional plans that support the brand strategy and build Ausgrid’s reputation.
  • Proactively identify potential communication risks and issues, escalating them appropriately and developing strategies to address them effectively.
  • Manage and mitigate negative publicity, ensuring Ausgrid's reputation is maintained and protected including any reactive communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively manage and communicate project objectives.
  • Ensure quality control of communications, with a focus on accuracy for details and brand compliance.

Successful candidates will hold the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations and/ or related relevant field experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to translate technical or complex project information into clear and digestible information for use externally and internally.
  • A deep understanding of the regional media landscape, with a proven track record of advising on media issues and working effectively with journalists and media outlets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills.
  • The capacity to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and respond to challenges with proactive solutions.
  • A collaborative spirit and commitment to contributing to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues, and sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Relationships with Hunter/Central Coast regional stakeholders or understanding of Hunter region.
