See yourself working here
Are you a strategic thinker with strong contract management skills and a passion for operational excellence? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same?

We are seeking a Contract Operations Manager to lead the management of contracted services that directly support our Field Delivery Teams. This role is pivotal in streamlining service delivery, enhancing contractor performance and removing barriers to on-ground success. From overseeing non-destructive excavation services and earth drilling to managing minor civil works and plant hire, this role demands versatility, operational oversight and actions plus a hands-on leadership style.

You’ll be accountable for supplier management, performance and delivery across a wide range of operational categories. Your mission: ensure our contractors deliver safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.

Key responsibilities will also include:

  • Lead formal contract meetings, procurement support, and specification development.
  • Engage with contract users to develop service needs and performance expectations.
  • Ensure value-for-money by validating supplier claims and contract compliance.
  • Audit sites, contractors, plant, and personnel for safety, capacity, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain a robust, pre-qualified contractor panel.
  • Build strong supplier relationships to meet operational needs.
  • Manage day-of-operation escalations, such as storm support coordination.
  • Drive strategic improvements in contractor performance and delivery models.
  • Support system development and provide training for end-users.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of contract operations professionals.

What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

You’re an experienced contract and operations manager with a strong technical background and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. You can confidently navigate between the field, project managers and procurement teams, all while keeping your finger on the pulse of contract performance, safety and delivery standards.

To be successful in this role, you will hold the following skills and experience:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Class C Driver's Licence (Essential for regular regional travel).
  • Deep understanding of industry regulations, standards, and safe work practices.
  • Proven experience in managing technical and commercial supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to performance metrics.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, inspire action, and deliver on complex goals.
  • High proficiency in MS Office and ability to navigate multiple business systems.
