Your new role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Continuous Improvement, you will be primarily accountable for both leading improvement initiatives and driving the delivery of a portfolio of business enhancements that deliver positive outcomes for customers, strengthen the organisation's reputation and support commercial success. A key aspect of your responsibilities will also involve training, coaching, and mentoring personnel in Continuous Improvement tools, philosophies and techniques, ensuring they are equipped to apply these practices effectively to deliver ongoing tangible business benefits.

 

You will lead and actively contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at achieving sustained and measurable customer focussed improvements. Through thorough analysis of customer feedback and business performance, you will implement and help drive changes to business processes that align with and further Ausgrid's strategic objectives. Effective management of operations will be essential, involving business planning, work scheduling and collaboration with other customer-centric teams to successfully implement positive change.

 

An important component of your role will be to provide training and coaching in continuous improvement methodologies and helping to inculcate a culture of continuous improvement across the business. You will work to align these initiatives with the broader business strategies and objectives, ensuring that customer and stakeholder needs are identified and addressed proactively to maintain positive experiences. Your contributions will also include developing robust business cases for improvement initiatives, capturing and documenting lessons learned, and fostering organisational knowledge sharing to enhance improvement efforts.

 

As you carry out these responsibilities, it will be essential to reflect Ausgrid’s values in your approach and adhere to policies and procedures that promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment. Placing the customer at the heart of decision-making will guide your actions, as will your efforts to define clear improvement targets and the roadmap to achieve them.

 

Additionally, you will assist in coordinating and tracking continuous improvement initiatives while providing timely reporting to stakeholders. Through coaching and guidance, you will influence and drive meaningful change across the business.

The ideal candidate will come with a strong track record of initiating, driving and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, complemented by skills in the practical application of continuous improvement philosophies and techniques, including Lean and Six Sigma, enabling you to make a significant impact on customer outcomes, organisational efficiency and effectiveness. You will have a strong ability to identify and analyse issues, problems and opportunities, allowing you to draw informed conclusions and propose actionable solutions.

 

You will have the ability to develop and deliver training in continuous improvement tools and techniques, as well as coach and mentor others, as this is essential for fostering a culture of improvement and lifting the capability of the the organisation. You will excel at resolving conflict and assisting others in adapting to change, ensuring that teams can navigate transitions smoothly. Strong administrative and organisational skills are key to enhancing your ability to coordinate, prioritise and deliver a diverse range of activities effectively and strong interpersonal skills to enable effective engagement with various stakeholder groups. You will have strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and your communication abilities, both written and oral, will be highly evident.

 

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, PowerBI and other relevant systems will allow you to leverage technology in support of the continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, experience in the implementation of Agile techniques and the delivery of digital improvement initiatives are highly valued. The successful applicant will have the ability to drive innovative solutions and effectively adapt to the fast-paced changes in today's business environment.
