Reporting to the Generation & Storage Connection Manager, the Connections Projects Coordinator will be managing and facilitating new embedded generation connections to Ausgrid’s network. Energy system transformation is accelerating along with the shift to renewables, this reflects Australia’s net zero emissions target in which Ausgrid and the Generation & Storage team have a part to play.
The connections managed by the team include large-scale embedded generators that require sub-transmission connections and technical assessments to be completed in accordance with the requirements of National Electricity Rules and standards deployed by Ausgrid.
In this role you will be required to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver connection services to our customers that will empower the energy system transformation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and documenting detailed connection requirements by engaging the expertise of multiple internal teams.
- Facilitating negotiation of required customer outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Performing and coordinating review of detailed network augmentation design and power system model submissions made by external parties.
- Building financial estimates provided to proponents for network connection services.
- Providing design and engineering support throughout project construction phases.
- Oversee the connection process to ensure delivery against agreed timelines and requirements.
- Minimisation of safety hazards within the resultant design solutions through the consideration of safety throughout the design process.
What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) giving entitlement to full membership of Engineers Australia OR an Advanced Diploma in an electrical or relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- A mature understanding of the regulatory environment and national electricity rules that connecting embedded generators must comply with.
- Well-developed knowledge of the electrical distribution and sub-transmission system covering the design, construction, and operation of the electricity distribution network.
- Proven conceptual and analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to problem solve and document solutions.
- Superior communication and negotiation skills in managing the multiple internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, that will be involved in an embedded generator connection project.
- Ability to form and participate in cross and multi-functional teams focused on problem solving, innovation and project execution.
- Experience in studies, investigations, reporting, analysis and / or risk assessment relevant to embedded generation connecting to the electricity network.
