Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development, the Competence Management Framework Specialist will lead the charge in building a smarter, sharper, and more consistent approach to employee competence across Ausgrid.

This isn’t just another policy role, it’s your chance to design and drive a framework that brings together training, assessment, learning programs, and certification into one powerful system. You’ll be the go-to expert for creating clarity around competence, competency, and capability, and making sure our people have what they need to succeed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and unify policies, processes, and systems that support role-specific training and assessment.
  • Identify what’s missing and create the documentation to make it whole, from procedures to governance models.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement through smart learning program management and trainer development.
  • Clarify what competence really means and ensure it is consistently applied across the business.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to shape how we manage learning, course delivery, trainer certification, and more.
  • Create RASCI models and risk-based training needs analyses to support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure everything fits with organisational, regulatory, and industry standards, including RTO requirements.

 

What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in training, learning and development, organisational development or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing capability and/or competency frameworks.
  • Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery of project outcomes.
  • Proven experience in providing guidance and direction to achieve project outcomes.
  • Experience in engaging and influencing key stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to translate business strategy into specific competency requirements and development initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation to effectively convey the value of a competency management framework. 
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of registered training organisations and ASQA requirements
