Your new role

As our Climate Resilience Scientist, you’ll play a key role in conducting climate risk assessments and providing technical support to drive resilience outcomes.

In this role, you’ll be involved in updating our climate resilience assessment, refining methods for modelling network vulnerability, and enhancing our understanding of interdependencies with other critical infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include translating complex climate projections and scientific research into robust, data-driven models that inform strategic decision-making.

This role is part of a well-established, cross-disciplinary program, already implementing solutions to strengthen climate resilience.

By joining Ausgrid, you’ll know that your contributions will be valued and will directly translate into practical solutions that benefit the community.

Spark our interest!

Our hiring decisions are based not only on your experience and skills but also on your passion, attitude, and alignment with our core values. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in conducting climate risk assessments, enabling them to evaluate and manage potential impacts on infrastructure. A proven record of applying climate science and modelling expertise in an asset-intensive industry would be highly valued. This practical experience will be supported by tertiary qualifications in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field.

While previous experience in data modelling is advantageous, we encourage candidates who are eager to learn the fundamentals on the job to apply. Exposure to programming and analytical coding (e.g., Python, R) and understanding how they can be used to process, interpret, and model large, complex datasets would be advantageous.

Furthermore, you are an exceptional communicator, capable of conveying complex scientific and technical information with clarity and authority to diverse stakeholders. You thrive in a collaborative team environment, consistently delivering project outcomes within agreed time frames and budgets. Your experience includes liaising with internal and external partners, resolving technical challenges, and contributing to the financial oversight of your projects.
