Are you a commercially savvy procurement professional ready to take ownership of high-impact categories and influence enterprise-wide outcomes? We’re looking for a Category Manager to join our Procurement team on a six-month fixed term basis. 

 

This role will report to our Senior Category Manager, based in the Haymarket office and the team sits within the broader Finance function.

 

About the role
You will lead end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, leading negotiations while managing cross-functional teams to ensure initiatives are delivered successfully. The category focuses are supporting sourcing of renewable energy equipment, balance of plant and related civils works and services.


This is a highly visible role where you’ll act as a trusted advisor to the business, leveraging your commercial acumen to shape decisions, resolve challenges, and unlock value.

 

What you’ll be doing
•    Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market engagement, tendering, and leading contract negotiations.
•    Develop and execute category strategies and supplier relationship plans.
•    Partner with stakeholders to deliver commercially sound, innovative procurement solutions.
•    Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance to meet business objectives.
•    Identify opportunities to optimise cost, improve performance, and enhance supply outcomes.
•    Manage risk and ensure compliance with procurement frameworks and governance.
•    Lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
•    Provide insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making.

 

What you’ll bring
•    Proven experience in category management, strategic sourcing, and procurement
•    Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrated ability to negotiate and deliver value
•    Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including at senior levels
•    Ability to manage multiple projects and complex problem-solving environments
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
•    A degree in Business, Commerce, Law, Technology (or equivalent experience)

 

Highly regarded experience
•    Experience in BESS, renewables, or related civils works and services
•    Knowledge of battery supply chains, energy markets, or emerging storage technologies
•    Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation 
•    MCIPS or similar professional accreditation.
