See yourself working here
As Consumer Energy Resources (CER) continue to transform the energy landscape, this role supports the systems, integrations, and operational technology that enable safe and reliable Distributed Energy Resource (DER) participation across the Ausgrid network. You will provide technical expertise across the CER/DER technology stack, maintaining the stability and performance of key platforms including Utility Server, DER Management System (DERMS), dynamic operating envelope engines, and associated integration environments to support growing DER penetration and real-time network visibility.

The role is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex Level 2 and 3 technical issues across CER registration workflows, application programming interfaces and integrations, control event delivery, telemetry ingestion, and platform performance, while upholding strong security, access governance, and disaster recovery practices. You will manage underlying data, storage, networking, and hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructure (e.g. Azure Integration Services, Kubernetes and Kafka) to enable reliable operations and advanced analytics capabilities.

Working closely with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), vendors, and internal teams, you will troubleshoot integration challenges, validate system performance, and build internal capability.

You will also support minimum system load events, Flexible Exports operations, device registration, telemetry accuracy, and OEM onboarding, while continuously optimising system configurations, monitoring processes, and the broader CER/DER technology stack to improve reliability and scalability.

What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

To be successful, you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or demonstrate equivalent capability through relevant experience and qualifications. You will bring extensive experience operating and managing control system technology and cloud infrastructure, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in complex operational environments. Your communication and collaboration skills will allow you to work confidently with both internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve operational outcomes.

Experience within the utilities sector will be highly regarded, particularly exposure to DERMS platforms and CER/DER integration environments. Familiarity with the Common Smart Inverter Profile – Australia (CSIP-AUS), including inverter communications, dynamic operating envelopes, and grid interoperability, will be advantageous, as will experience supporting Virtual Power Plant portfolios.
