Your new role
We’re on the lookout for a transmission planning specialist to help drive the connection package for our exciting Ausgrid BESS projects. These battery energy storage systems (BESS) are set to connect to the Ausgrid network, and connection approvals are a big deal – they’re critical milestones in our over $1B development pipeline.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of technical analysis, helping shape and deliver connection applications that meet the National Electricity Market (NEM) standards. You’ll be working closely with stakeholders, OEMs, and regulators to ensure everything runs smoothly and reliably. This role requires a deep understanding of power system standards, power system modelling, dynamics and performance benchmarking, regulatory requirements and frameworks and emerging technologies.

You’ll be part of a team that’s shaping the future of energy storage and grid reliability. From grid modelling to generator performance studies, your work will span regulated and non-regulated environments, making a real impact in the energy industry.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and reviewing generator performance standards to ensure compliance and system reliability.
  • Power system modelling and tuning, aligned with NER and system requirements.
  • Technical assessments of generator behaviour under different system conditions.
  • Coordinating commissioning programs (R2) to validate real-world performance against modelled expectations (R0, R1).
  • Collaborating with OEMs on equipment specs, cables, transformers, switchgear, and more.
  • Leading planning initiatives, managing timelines, and working across teams.

Spark our interest!

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering recognised for membership of Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive demonstrable knowledge of the Ausgrid transmission, sub transmission and distribution networks.
  • Strong understanding with the national electricity rules with a specific emphasis on generator performance standards
  • Proven expertise in power systems engineering where a deep understanding of generator technologies, grid dynamics, system reliability, equipment specification and power system design are required.
  • Analytical and modelling capabilities with a high level of proficiency in PSS®E, and PSCAD to perform power system simulation studies, enabling assessment of generator performance standards in accordance with Schedule 5.2 and satisfy benchmarking and DMAT requirements.
  • Proficient in conducting harmonic analysis using DIgSILENT PowerFactory to evaluate generator impacts on network power quality and ensure compliance with Ausgrid requirements.
  • Experience with technical writing and the ability to draft clear documentation and reports for generator performance assessments for all levels of management and staff.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the past planning standards relating to the development of the transmission and sub transmission networks with an application to large scale generation.
  • Experience relating to planning, asset utilisation, the application of risk, network analysis, network performance, protection and operating policies and extensive knowledge of the transmission, sub transmission and distribution networks including equipment behaviour under normal and fault situations.
