We are hiring for an experienced Stakeholder & Community Engagement Lead to join us on a 2-year fixed term basis to lead engagement across our major energy and infrastructure projects, ensuring communities, First Nations stakeholders, local government and industry partners are actively involved in shaping project outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both complexity and delivery. One day you may be coordinating activities using an engagement framework and advising stakeholders; the next, you'll be meeting with diverse communities to build relationships.

This role reports to the Stakeholder and Engagement Manager. at our Haymarket Sydney office where the team are based.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead stakeholder and community engagement programs for major energy and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement engagement strategies, plans and consultation activities.
• Build trusted relationships with First Nations communities, Traditional Owners and Indigenous organisations, and community groups.
• Facilitate workshops, community forums, stakeholder meetings and information sessions.
• Partner with Councils, government agencies, community groups and industry stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice to project teams on stakeholder risks, opportunities and engagement approaches.
• Champion best-practice engagement that goes beyond compliance and strengthens social licence.
• Work with environmental, planning and engineering teams to integrate community outcomes into project delivery.
• Develop engagement reporting, insights and recommendations that inform project decision-making.

What you bring to the role

You are an experienced engagement professional who understands that successful infrastructure projects are built on trusted relationships and authentic community participation.

• Demonstrated experience engaging with First Nations communities, including developing respectful, culturally appropriate relationships and consultation approaches.
• Experience developing and delivering stakeholder and community engagement strategies for infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy, transport, local government, planning or related sectors.
• Strong facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience balancing strategic planning with hands-on engagement delivery.
• Ability to influence and build credibility with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community members, project teams, senior leaders and government representatives.
• Knowledge of stakeholder engagement frameworks and best-practice engagement principles (IAP2 or equivalent).
• Experience identifying stakeholder risks, issues and opportunities and translating these into practical engagement plans.
• Willingness to travel and engage directly with communities where projects are being delivered.

Highly regarded

• Experience on major infrastructure, utilities, energy, renewable energy or planning projects.
• Experience working with First Nations communities
• Experience working with Local and state government programs.
• IAP2 Certification/Engagement Institute.
• Experience developing community benefit and social value initiatives.
• Proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese or Indonesian, enabling engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse communities will be advantageous.
