Ausgrid is on an exciting renewables transformation journey, and now is the time to be a part of something big! As a leader in energy distribution, we’re proud to service Sydney, the Hunter and Central Coast, delivering safe and reliable electricity to more than 1.8 million homes and businesses – that’s over 4 million Australians relying on us every day.

Our purpose is to make electricity accessible for all, and it’s our people that bring this to life. As we continue to grow, we are in search of exceptional talent to help us achieve our goals. Together, we can move towards a smarter, more sustainable future.

At Ausgrid, we are powered by diversity. Our customers come from all walks of life, and so do we! We are committed to creating a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workforce, and encourage applications from various backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals with disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Your new role
This is your opportunity to play a key role in one of Australia's most dynamic renewable energy growth areas. Ausgrid, together with PLUS ES (part of the Ausgrid Group), is delivering community battery and grid-scale BESS programs across the Ausgrid network, with PLUS ES delivering BESS projects in the external market. We are seeking a passionate and capable Engineering & Operations Manager to lead the technical commissioning and operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at this pivotal stage in the rollout of these programs.

With all activities performed through PLUS ES, you will be responsible for all technical activities related to the commissioning, and O&M of Ausgrid BESS assets and for external commercial clients. This is an exciting opportunity to establish a high-performing technical team from the ground up, and to develop the work practices, procedures, and systems that will guide how BESS commissioning and maintenance activities are delivered by the Ausgrid Group.

  • Establish and lead a team of para-professional and technical field staff responsible for commissioning, and O&M activities.
  • Oversee the safe and effective commissioning and day-to-day operation of BESS assets deployed across the Ausgrid network and in the external commercial market.
  • Drive operational excellence, technical performance, and asset reliability from energisation through to the asset’s end-of-life.
  • Collaborate closely with the Ausgrid Asset Performance Manager, internal Engineering Design and Delivery teams, and Ausgrid Network Operations to ensure a seamless transition from project delivery into ongoing commissioning and operational activities.
  • Influence industry-leading practices in grid-scale storage.
  • As this is an emerging and rapidly evolving sector, the role will also engage with broader industry developments to capture operational learnings and insights that enhance internal capabilities and support future commercial opportunities.
